It all went down near a Dennys restaurant Sunday afternoon. Its unclear who was at fault, but Tito was seen shaking hands with one of the people involved in the wreck moments after the collision.

A short time later, Tito tweeted about the crash and when asked if insurance would cover the damages, he replied, Nope, it will come out of my pocket. Sucks.

He added, I cried a little because its my favorite car but it will be new in no time.

Nate Marquardt Signs For BAMMA

Nate Marquardt Signs For BAMMA

Friday, 22 July 2011 12:33 Written by Liam Fisher

Nate Marquardt Signs with BAMMA

We are proud to announce that we have signed one of the top-ranked fighters in the world, former UFC contender Nate Marquardt. We will reveal Marquardt’s next opponent and more details on his highly anticipated BAMMA debut in the coming weeks.

Liam Fisher at BAMMA stated, “As soon as we received word that the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission lifted Marquardt’s suspension we jumped at the chance to sign him. He is a top ranked contender and an asset to any promotion. Words cannot express how excited we are that Marquardt is now fighting under the BAMMA banner.”

The three-time Middleweight King of Pancrase Champion and former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight contender boasts knock out of the night and fight of the night honors and has faced some of the toughest competition in the world. Marquardt holds notable wins over names like Demian Maia, Martin Kampmann, Rousimar Palhares and many others.

Marquardt had this to say about signing with Europe’s leading MMA promotion, “Offers came in from several fight promotions, but we felt that BAMMA was definitely the best fit. They put on high-quality shows, stack their cards with top-level fighters, and sign those fighters to multi-fight deals.  They are also the only fight organization in the UK that implements PED testing. To be honest, that is one of the main reasons that we chose BAMMA. I want to prove to my fans and to the world that Im the real deal and that I belong on top.”

Marquardt recently made the decision to drop down to the 170lb division and was expected to make his welterweight debut in June at UFC on Versus 4 against Rick Story, but was unexpectedly pulled from the card the day of weigh-ins due medical clearance issues. Shortly after, he was released by the UFC. It was later revealed that medically prescribed hormone replacement therapy caused the elevated testosterone levels that lead to his release. Marquardt’s suspension has since been lifted and he has found a new home with the BAMMA.

According to Marquardts manager Lex McMahon, Nate & I are very excited to establish a strategic relationship with BAMMA, as they are the premiere brand of MMA in Europe and a significant global player in the industry. BAMMA has stepped up and will be putting on top notch fights with elite fighters.  Nate is honoured to represent BAMMA and looks forward to a long term & mutually beneficial relationship.  As Nate mentioned, one of the key factors in our decision to work with BAMMA is their aggressive steps to bring regulation to the forefront of European MMA.  Additionally, Nate is a highly marketable athlete and we feel that he will quickly become one of the most sought after corporate spokesmen in Europe.

Marquardt went on to say, “Now that my suspension has been lifted and I’ve found a home with a new fight promotion, I can move forward and turn my focus back to my fight career. This has been an extremely difficult time and I’m very thankful to those who stood by me.  I’m looking forward to getting back to fighting and there are some guys out there that I would definitely like to get my hands on. Im talking about the fighters that kicked me while I was down. BAMMA is known for signing top talent so I may just get my chance.

Nate Marquardt is just one of many top-level fighters to recently sign for BAMMA. Other fighters include Frank Trigg, Efrain Escudero and Joey Villasenor with many more names to be announced over the coming weeks.

Nate will be doing his first interview as a BAMMA fighter tonight on ESPNs MMA Live at 10.15pm GMT

STRIKEFORCE and M-1 GLOBAL PRESENT: FEDOR vs. HENDERSON MEDIA CONFERENCE CALL WITH FEDOR, HENDERSON, COENEN AND TATE

Written by Penny Buffington

STRIKEFORCE and M-1 Global, in advance of the upcoming STRIKEFORCE and M-1 GLOBAL PRESENT: FEDOR vs. HENDERSON card scheduled for Saturday, July 30 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill held a media call with main event heavyweights Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson, as well as women’s bantamweight champion Marloes Coenen and number one women’s bantamweight contender Miesha Tate. The conference call took place Thursday, July 21.

With the UFC’s purchase of Strikeforce the females must be feeling added pressure to impress UFC president Dana White. In an interview with the MMA2DAY Show right before the announced purchase Miesha Tate stated Dana White was ignorant. She was not using the word in a derogatory way but rather in its true form. She explained as far as her knowledge White does not watch female fights at all. Indicating he had only watched one, ever.

During the conference call Penny Buffington executive producer of MMA2DAY Show asked Miesha to explain? “In saying that Dana is ignorant, I don’t mean it as an insult; I mean it as he is not informed. He doesn’t really know enough about women’s mma to really make a judgment call about us at this point. I feel with the purchase of Strikeforce he is going to being paying more closer attention to it. So with that in the back of my mind it is not really added pressure. To me it is actual motivation. It is exciting. Now I am going to have that opportunity to say, hey you know what? This is what mma is all about. I hope Marloes and I go out there and give a very exciting performance.”

40 year old Dan “Hendo” Henderson has a sherdog fight record: 27 8 – 0.  34 year old Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko: 31 3 – 0.
24 year old Miesha “Takedown” Tate has a sherdog fight record: 11 2 – 0.  30 year old Marloes “Rumina” Coenen:  19 4 0

In hopes that Fedors previous retirement announcement was nothing more than a NOT well thought out plan. Buffington pushed the fighter to please now admit to plans of fighting for years to come. “It’s Gods will if I will keep fighting for years to come. Right now I feel great. My health is great.”

Watch FEDOR VS HENDERSON JULY 30 at the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago, IL. LIVE on SHOWTIME 10PM ET/PT. More info may be found at http://www.strikeforce.com/.

Tate will be a guest on the MMA2DAY Show airing this Sunday at 7pm eastern time 4 pm pacific. MMA2DAY Show airs on WSBR 740 AM So. Florida and may be heard live anywhere in the United States and  around the world @ /

PRESS CONFERENCE IN DENVER ON TUESDAY, JULY 19 10 a.m. MT

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – UFC® light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones is undoubtedly the fastest-rising star in the sport of mixed martial arts. Since bursting onto the scene in 2008, the 23-year-old New Yorker has steamrolled through the UFC’s talented 205-pound division, finishing opponents with his unmatched blend of unorthodox striking and vice-grip-like submissions. On Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo., Jones’ meteoric rise faces imminent danger, as “Bones” will makes his first title defense againstformer UFC and PRIDE® champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced today the colossal 205-pound title bout, as well as an outstanding 170-pound clash between former welterweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes and The Ultimate Fighter season one winner Diego Sanchez.  If that wasn’t enough, UFC’s return to the Mile High City will feature a tremendous heavyweight battle pitting knockout artist Travis Browne against British finisher Rob Broughton, as well as an electric lightweight bout between The Ultimate Fighter season five winner Nate Diaz and Japanese standout Tanakori “The Fireball Kid” Gomi.

“Many people think that Jon Jones should be considered one of the pound-for-pound best fighters in the world, but I wouldn’t make that claim too fast,” UFC President Dana White said. “The 205-pound division is and always has been the most stacked division in MMA.  Rampage Jackson has been one of the top five light heavyweights in the world since 2003.  A win over Rampage Jackson will definitely put Jon Jones on the right track for becoming the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.”

UFC Fight Club members will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to this event Wednesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. MT via the website www.ufcfightclub.com. A special Internet ticket pre-sale will be available to UFC newsletter subscribers Thursday, July 21, starting at 10 a.m. MT. To access this presale, users must register for the UFC newsletter through UFC.com.

UFC 135: JONES vs. RAMPAGE will be available live on Pay-Per-View at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on UFC.TV, iN DEMAND, DirecTV, DISH Network, Avail-TVN, BellTV, Shaw Communications, Sasktel, and Viewer’s Choice Canada for a suggested retail price of $44.99 US/$49.99 CAN for Standard Definition and $54.99 US/$59.99 CAN for High Definition.

After capturing the UFC light heavyweight crown by stopping Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in March, Jon Jones (fighting out of Endicott, N.Y.)makes his first title defense in Denver when he meets Rampage Jackson. At 13-1, the 23-year-old Team Jackson fighter owns wins over the likes of Stephan Bonnar, Vladimir Matyushenko and Ryan Bader. Despite his impressive resume, “Bones” believes a win over Jackson would truly cement his place as one of the world’s most dominant fighters.

“Fighting Rampage Jackson is an awesome opportunity and a win is definitely something that could add to my legacy as champion,” Jones said. “I think he’s re-motivated and that makes him dangerous. He’s driving me to a different level of training right now. I’m training like a champion so that I can go in there on Sept. 24 and perform like a champion.”

With his bone-crushing power and seek-and-destroy mentality, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (fighting out of Irvine, Calif.) owns victories over some of the sport’s all-time greats, including Wanderlei Silva, Dan Henderson and Chuck Liddell. While his opponent on Sept. 24 appears to be heading toward a similarly historic career, Jackson (32-8) looks to end Jones’ surge when the two battle for the title at Pepsi Center. Simply put, Jackson believes it’s his time to once again reign over arguably the most stacked division in the UFC.

“I am planning on bringing the belt back to where it belongs,” Jackson said. “That belt is very serious and very dear to me. That belt should never have been taken off of me, and it’s been a long time coming to get my chance to get my belt back. The proudest thing I’ve done in my career is unify that title with the PRIDE FC title, and in the next fight it was taken off me despite me winning the fight. I’ve had to wait since 2008 to get my chance to get my belt back, but anything that comes easy isn’t worth having in the first place.”

UFC Hall of Famer and welterweight great Matt Hughes (fighting out of Hillsboro, Ill.)steps inside the Octagon® this fall in search of another signature win to add to his storied career. The 37-year-old former champion gets that opportunity when he meets the hard-charging Diego Sanchez (fighting out of Albuquerque, N.M.). Winner of season one of The Ultimate Fighter, the 29-year-old Sanchez has developed a reputation for being a gritty, hard-nosed fighter with deceiving power and high-level grappling. Riding back-to-back wins since returning to the welterweight division Sanchez (25-4) looks for his third consecutive victory when he meets the legendary Hughes (46-8).

Fresh off a Knockout of the Night performance at UFC 130 in May, undefeated heavyweight Travis “Hapa” Browne (fighting out of San Diego, Calif.) looks for his third victory in the UFC when he meets versatile English fighter Rob Broughton (fighting out of Liverpool, England). The 6’7” Browne (11-0-1) trains alongside UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and rising light heavyweight Phil Davis in San Diego and is considered a future heavyweight contender. He’ll face a stern test in Broughton (15-5-1), a Wolfslair product with 11 wins by way of stoppage.

UFC 135 features a sure-fire barnburner when The Ultimate Fighter season five winner Nate Diaz (fighting out of Stockton, Calif.)takes on Japanese standout Tanakori “The Fireball Kid” Gomi (fighting out of Tokyo, Japan) in lightweight action. The 26-year-old Diaz (13-7), younger brother of welterweight standout Nick Diaz, has scored victories over Marcus Davis, Melvin Guillard and Kurt Pellegrino in his career. His opponent, former PRIDE star Gomi (32-7, 1 NC), is known for his stunning power and holds notable wins over the likes of Tyson Griffin, Tatsuya Kawijiri and Marcus Aurelio.

AGGRESSION MMA BRINGING BACK TOP CANADIAN STARS FOR NEXT FIGHT CARD

AGGRESSION MMA BRINGING BACK TOP CANADIAN STARS FOR NEXT FIGHT CARD

Event to feature Ryan Ford, Tim Hague, and Ryan McGillivray

Ryan Ford,

Ryan Ford,

Edmonton, Alberta (Canada): Mixed martial arts is all about overcoming obstacles. Whether it’s training, weight-cutting, and defeats, or scheduling conflicts, equipment issues, and venue changes, adversity is very much part of the life of anyone involved in MMA.

Aggression MMA is not exempt from this. At its last event, some cage issues caused some problems at the event. However, the house was near-capacity, and the crowd was hot. Several great performances were given, including a bout many called “Fight of the Night” between Steve Beaumont and James Haddad. Jason Gorny and Elmer Waterhen engaged in an eye-pleasing slugfest, and former Edmonton Eskimo Rio Wells got the submission victory after suffering his first career loss recently. In short, the fights just kept getting better and better.

Building on this momentum, the Edmonton-based promotion has announced that it is bringing back some of the top Canadian stars out there for its September fight event. Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford, Tim “The Thrashing Machine” Hague, and Ryan “The Kid” McGillivray have all been signed to compete on this star-studded fight card. Canadian fight fans won’t want to miss it!

Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford (16-3) has clearly established himself as one of the top stars in Canada. He has won four straight, and eight of his last night, finishing all his victims on either punches or submissions. Just this year, he’s conquered Johnny Davis, former UFC welterweight contender Karo Parisyan, and fellow top Canadian Nick Hinchliffe in succession. Now, he will headline another Aggression MMA event, but this time, it will be with the vacant Aggression Welterweight Championship on the line.

Tim “The Thrashing Machine” Hague (12-5), at only 28 years old, is a five-time UFC veteran who has proven his talent and mettle over and over again. A brutally strong competitor, he has finished his opponent in ten of his twelve victories. After three separate stints with the UFC, he returns to his native Canada to get back on the winning track. And he’s hungry to prove he belongs amongst the best heavyweights in the sport.

Ryan “The Kid” McGillivray (11-5-1) returns to his native Canada coming off a run on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Lesnar vs. Team dos Santos. As a member of Team dos Santos, McGillivray defeated Len Bentley in his first bout of the competition, thereby earning a spot in the quarterfinals. He lost his next bout against the eventual winner of the competition, Tony Ferguson, a loss which took “The Kid” out of the competition. Yet, he showed enough to be signed by the UFC, and competed at the TUF finals against fellow cast-member Shamar Bailey. He suffered a decision loss, and is now looking to right the ship. One of the most exciting competitors to come out of Canada, the future is bright for “The Kid.”

Stay tuned for more details on this exciting upcoming Aggression MMA fight event!

RISING FEATHERWEIGHT SHAH BOBONIS HELPS GET DOMINICK CRUZ READY FOR URIJAH FABER

RISING FEATHERWEIGHT SHAH BOBONIS HELPS GET DOMINICK CRUZ READY FOR URIJAH FABER

“To be in there with someone at that level was a great experience.”

Miami, Florida (USA): Shah Bobonis…it’s not a name easily forgotten. It’s unique. Yet, the fighter behind the name is so much more than an interesting moniker. He’s a rising, young 145-pounder that industry insiders are starting to recognize as a future force to be reckoned with.

Bobonis (11-6) possesses a unique background. Growing up in a military family, Shah moved around a lot. Starting in San Antonio, his family moved to Puerto Rico and then to Florida, where he was basically raised in Miami. A wrestler in junior high and high school, he was a star athlete. Shah went on to play minor league baseball. After his baseball career ended, he took up amateur boxing to stay in shape. A chance meeting with current Strikeforce lightweight contender Jorge Masvidal led to Shah being introduced to MMA. After falling in love with the sport, he began training in earnest, and made his pro debut in 2007.

A two-time title-holder in Mexico’s Combate Extremo (C.E.), Shah is the current C.E. Featherweight Champion. And he’s very confident in his abilities.

“I’m the new generation of fighter,” he explains. “I didn’t grow up wrestling all my life, and I wasn’t born in a gi. I love to fight, and I’ve learned to be proficient in every area of the game. Even if a guy comes in as a world champion kickboxer, I can beat anybody in the world at 135 or 145 lbs,” he confidently concludes.

Represented by former FIFA player agent and current C.E. CEO Michael Shoffner, doors are beginning to open for the well-rounded talent. Shah was recently asked to go to San Diego to help prepare UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz for this weekend’s title bout with Urijah Faber. It was quite an experience for the young fighter.

“I was with him four weeks as one of his chief sparring partners,” said Bobonis. “It was a great experience. Dominick is a really well-rounded fighter. To be in there with someone at that level was a great experience. To see that caliber of fighter, to be exposed to it…you don’t get that every day. Once you train with someone that good, it gives you a level of confidence because you know going into a fight that you’re not going to see someone better than that. It helps your confidence.”

Last year, Shah was scheduled to make his Bellator debut. However, an injury prevented that. Now, he’s looking to string together a few wins and grab that first fight with the promotion.

“The UFC is great, but I think sometimes title shots and main events come about solely based on the marketability of the fight. I love how Bellator does things. You have to fight everybody. And I just want to fight the best, regardless.”

In his next bout, Shah will defend his Combate Extremo 145-pound belt in September. Look for more information on that fight in the coming months.

Combate Extremo is Méxicos longest running professional mixed martial arts promotion. The promotion was instrumental in the growth and regulation of MMA in México by establishing the only federally appointed commission in the country – COMEXAM (Comision Mexicana de Artes Marciales Mixtas) and making it the first promotion in México to adopt the MMA Unified Rules and requiring other promoters to meet minimum regulatory standards.

To date, C.E. has promoted over 100 professional mixed martial arts events in México and internationally, running nine events in the 2010 season alone, along with another twelve scheduled for 2011. Events have featured fighters such as Jon Fitch, Aaron Riley, Brian Ebersole, Brandon Lee Hinkle, MMA pioneer Shannon “The Cannon” Ritch, IFL veteran Vince Lucero, and Bellator veterans Jorge Ortiz, Yahir Reyes, Edwin Aguilar, Cedric Marks, and showcases the top Mexican fighters competing today.
